Blackbeard

After converting his new vessel, Queen Anne’s Revenge, into a bullied up pirate ship, Blackbeard did not hesitate to attack well-armed merchant ships and even the Royal Navy. To minimize damage to a prize, he would often raise the colors of the ship’s country to trick the captain. Once close, Blackbeard would then hoist his pirate flag and fire a warning shot. If the opposing captain did not surrender, the pirates would heave grappling hooks to the other ship, pull them tight and board.
